Zombie youth of today

The worst has happened – zombies have infested the streets of Ljutomer. Two hundred undead creatures of all ages and decomposition stages have staggered their way from the Main Square to the parking lot across the Culture House Cinema, following the unearthly sounds of voodoorockers Nero Burns emerging from the absolutely horrendous Zombie Truck. It is where they performed their macabre dance to the red hot rhymes and beats of zombified Klemen Klemen. After the dance, each of them had a glass of excellent wine.
It was namely the last day of your favourite film and wine festival. Already in the morning, folks of all ages gathered in the tent at the Main Square where preparations for the walk have begun. Helped by many apprentices, the experts from Lakobrija FX under the guidance of Miki Lakobrija and Mad Squirrel FX led by Sendy Kumalakanta created more and more zombies for the rapidly growing army of the undead, gathered from all around, boasting good will and a bunch of bizarre accessories. In an atmosphere of joy and anticipation the crowd of the living dead, as well as the curious and merry mortals, were getting themselves in shape with delicious wine and the inviting menu of the Zombie Kitchen that, at least according to the cook, did not contain human meat (at least not in illegal doses). Vegetarian zombies were also taken care of.
The hour of the walk was closing in and so was the Zombie Truck. But, before its terrifying machine did roar, the time was ripe for an address from the highest level. Directly from Canada and with a little help from modern technology, a voice emerged from the mighty speakers: the voice of the head of the undead, the inventor of modern zombie movie, George A. Romero himself! Accompanied by horrid screams and grunts of his minions, he greeted the gathered crowd and gave his blessing and support, followed by an order to attack. The rest is history.
On 15th of August, a miracle happened in Ljutomer. As dr. Karol Grossmann did a 105 years ago at the exact same location, all of us together contributed to a great moment in history, in our case the first-ever Zombie Walk in Slovenia. The merry undead have conquered Ljutomer for a few hours, while the living population had a great fun with it. For safety reasons, they drank the heavenly wine from Prlekija, known for its protection from spells, black magic and zombies, while in the crowd we could find Joerg Buttgereit and Ruggero Deodato taking pictures of the hellish procession. It was a genuinely unforgettable and intoxicating experience, exceeding all expectations, showing that with good will and joyful cooperation even the impossible can easily be made reality.
We deeply, kindly and utmost sincerely extend our undying gratitude and a heartfelt toast to all our zombies who responded to our call and took part in this incredible event, teams from Lakobrija FX and Mad Squirell FX along with numerous apprentices-volunteers for their selfless effort and expert skills, the people of Ljutomer for generously and enthusiastically supporting the Zombie Walk, and of course the great George Romero, without whom the zombies as we know them today would not exist.
The pictures from the Zombie Walk are on display in our gallery, in the following days also some film footage will be available at this site, so please do stay in Grossmann's decomposing company!
