Sci-fi comedy Star Wreck, the great underground hit of 2005, will come in flying to this year's Grossmann all the way from Finland, and so will its director Timo Vuorensola! The adventures of Captain James B. Pirk have begun already in 1992 with the first animated short directed by Samuli Torssonen, which was followed by a series of films that reached its peak in 1997 with the 45-minute long Star Wreck 5. Five enthusiasts, united under the flag of Energia productions, equipped by home computers and helped by over 300 extras, assistants and supporters, spent the following seven years making the full-length live-action sci-fi adventure Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning. Combining amazing visual effects with a rough-and-ready sense of humour their masterpiece was launched on internet in 2005. In the first week, 700.000 people downloaded it. Until now, this number has risen to 4 million while the film was aired on Finnish, Belgian and Italian television, not to mention the release of both the feature and all shorts on two separate DVDs and the Star Wreck Role Playing Game, the Swiss fan sequel The Return of Pirk: Star Wreck Pi or the Finnish fan animated series Star Wreck Asskicker. Together with German and Australian co-producers, the Energia crew is now working on their new sci-fi comedy Iron Sky that has, thanks to astonishing trailers, already received huge attention, even though the shooting is scheduled for October while the release is announced for 2011. The story will take us to the year 2018, when the Nazis, who have been launched to the Moon at the end of World War 2, once again decide to conquer the Earth, this time for good. With the award-winning Finnish sci-fi writer Johanna Sinisalo contributing the script and our musical guests of this year, the mighty Laibach with Ben Watkins (Juno Reactor) providing the soundtrack, one can easily see why Iron Sky is one of the most anticipated and promising films to hit the theatres in the foreseeable future! Prior to Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning, Timo Vuorensola had visited various amateur films both as an actor and a director. He was added to the Wreck crew roster in the summer of 1996, when they needed a “tall and loud guy” to play the part of Dwarf. This year's Grossmann will be a great opportunity to enjoy a glass or two of delicious wine with him before he reaches the shiny heights of international stardom withIron Sky!

Sci-fi comedy Star Wreck, the great underground hit of 2005, will come in flying to this year's Grossmann all the way from Finland, and so will its director Timo Vuorensola! The adventures of Captain James B. Pirk have begun already in 1992 with the first animated short directed by Samuli Torssonen, which was followed by a series of films that reached its peak in 1997 with the 45-minute long Star Wreck 5. Five enthusiasts, united under the flag of Energia productions, equipped by home computers and helped by over 300 extras, assistants and supporters, spent the following seven years making the full-length live-action sci-fi adventure Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning. Combining amazing visual effects with a rough-and-ready sense of humour their masterpiece was launched on internet in 2005. In the first week, 700.000 people downloaded it. Until now, this number has risen to 4 million while the film was aired on Finnish, Belgian and Italian television, not to mention the release of both the feature and all shorts on two separate DVDs and the Star Wreck Role Playing Game, the Swiss fan sequel The Return of Pirk: Star Wreck Pi or the Finnish fan animated series Star Wreck Asskicker.
Together with German and Australian co-producers, the Energia crew is now working on their new sci-fi comedy Iron Sky that has, thanks to astonishing trailers, already received huge attention, even though the shooting is scheduled for October while the release is announced for 2011. The story will take us to the year 2018, when the Nazis, who have been launched to the Moon at the end of World War 2, once again decide to conquer the Earth, this time for good. With the award-winning Finnish sci-fi writer Johanna Sinisalo contributing the script and our musical guests of this year, the mighty Laibach with Ben Watkins (Juno Reactor) providing the soundtrack, one can easily see why Iron Sky is one of the most anticipated and promising films to hit the theatres in the foreseeable future!
Prior to Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning, Timo Vuorensola had visited various amateur films both as an actor and a director. He was added to the Wreck crew roster in the summer of 1996, when they needed a “tall and loud guy” to play the part of Dwarf. This year's Grossmann will be a great opportunity to enjoy a glass or two of delicious wine with him before he reaches the shiny heights of international stardom with Iron Sky!
