| The story follows Stella, an ambitious acting student, who’s been accepted to the mysterious "Mateusz Gdula" school. The founder of the school committed suicide when his very particular training method was forbidden because of the deaths of several of his students in the '70s. But when strange things start to happen in the abandoned wing of the school, Stella suspects that Gdula's method is still practiced. And she wants to participate at all costs... At this year's festival, we have a great honour to host the world premiere of the highly anticipated German giallo Masks. All fans of striking visuals, haunting music, black gloves, elaborate murder set-pieces, psychoanalytic overtones and other genre ingredients will undoubtedly be thrilled by this stylish and macabre tribute to classic giallos of Dario Argento and Sergio Martino. Director Andreas Marschall has already gained a lot of attention with his debut feature Tears of Kali and is also known as creator of artwork for numerous metal bands, such as Obituary, Blind Guardian, In Flames and Kreator. He also directed Kreator's 1991 VHS release Hallucinative Comas. Heiner Thimm has collaborated with Marschall on Tears of Kali and was also associate producer of Jesus Franco’s 2002 film Killer Barbys Vs Dracula. |
