While suffering particulary harsh financial difficulties, he accepts a lucrative offer to make one more film for the weird yet wealthy Vukmir. As the filming progresses, he finds out that the script, which he wasn't allowed to read, expects him to perform not only unsimulated sex, but also increasingly gruesome acts of violence on the actresses, and that Vukmir doesn't plan for his film to have a happy ending. The most infamous film of the year that was surrounded by controversy and outrage even before it was released is of course coming to this year's Grossmann. Extremely nihilistic, technically superb, narratively engaging, featuring brilliant acting and painfully convincing special effects, A Serbian Film delivers on all fronts and comes as one of the best horror offerings in the last years, once again confirming outstanding vitality and potential of the new Serbian independent film scene. Due to extremely graphic depictions of violence and sex film is not suitable for viewers under 16 years of age. Srdjan Spasojevic was born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1976. He graduated from the Academy of Arts BK in Belgrade. "A Serbian Film" is his film debut. |
