Duc de Richleau and Rey Van Ryn discover that their young friend Simon is dabbling in the occult. They disrupt a sinister initiation ritual and abduct Simon and his friend Tanith from the cultists. Mocata, the powerful leader of the cult, goes after them and summons the forces of darkness to help him. If they want to survive and save their young friends' souls, de Richleau and Van Ryn will have to confront the evil.

The Devil Rides Out is one of most remarkable Hammer films, with Christopher Lee giving one of his greatest performances in the role of the heroic lead character. He was also the prime mover in getting this brilliant Dennis Wheatley film adaptation made. The screenplay was written by Richard Matheson who has previously succesfully adapted his own novels I Am Legend and The Shrinking Man for the big screen, while the direction was masterfully executed by Terence Fisher, director of Hammer's finest classics such as The Curse of Frankenstein, Dracula and The Mummy.
