LITTLE WORKSHOP OF HORRORS
The workshop is held in honour of legendary Roger Corman, receiver of honorary ‘Vicious Old Cat’ award at Grossmann 08. The Little Shop of Horrors is one of his most renowned and popular movies, a timeless masterpiece shot on a virtually non-existent budget. It is mentioned in the Guinness Book Of World Records as the movie that took the least time to shoot, namely two days and a night. This is the theme of our workshop, which will be of competitive nature.
We seek for already established or ad-hoc improvised film crews for the purpose of shooting a short genre movie during the festival in two days and a night. Scripts will be already written, pre-production (storyboard, choosing locations etc.), as well as post-production (editing, music, digital effects etc.), may take up to two separate days, respectively.
Participants in the workshop will be provided with computers with suitable editing software installed, as well as with special venue for other activities involving production. Workshop coordinator and his assistant will be available for help and consulting during all phases of production. There will also be some masks i.e. already made special FX available, as well as improvised lighting. Other equipment must be provided by film crews themselves, with all kinds of digital cameras allowed.
Applicants must submit scripts or synopsis for movies (recommended up to 20 minutes in duration). A special commission will select projects that will be called for consultations with the aim of developing a full script until the workshop begins. Presumably five film crews will be chosen, depending on quality and possibilities of realization of submitted scripts. Organizer reserves the right to cancel the workshop if too few projects are chosen.
Workshop will presumably start on 25th of July and will last until the end of the festival, 30th of July. Movies must be produced until the end of festival. The winner of the workshop will be chosen by a special jury. All films made in workshop will be released on a DVD for promotional purposes of the authors and the festival.
Terms of Application
1. Apply for the workshop by submitting scripts or synopsises (recommended up to 20 minutes), that must be accompanied by a CD with digital version of the project.
2. Submission must include short biography and filmography of the author, as well as list of production team personnel.
3. Submission must include:
- synopsis (up to 1 printed page) or script (up to 30 printed pages)
- short list of equipment necessary for realization of project (cameras, tripods etc.)
4. Only genre live-action movies will be considered for selection. Documentary movies will be chosen as an exception.
5. All submissions must be sent by the 8th of July to the following address:

On the envelope it has to be clearly stated “no commercial value”.
6. All shipment costs are covered by sender.
7. Movies in selection are copied for the festival archive. Organiser reserves the right to use them for promotional purposes of the festival. Movies and excerpts from the movies will not be used for commercial purposes.
8. By filling out and sending the entry form you confirm to agree with the rules stated above.
9. Organizer reserves the right to cancel the workshop if there are too few chosen projects.
